Hoverflies

It wouldn't be spring without a couple of hoverflies, would it?!

Hoverflies and other things...

It's been a very busy summer so far, and I haven't had much time to be out behind the camera. On the occasions that I have been out in the garden, it has either been very breezy or very grey, i.e. all of the things I should expect in a British August. But here are some the things I have spotted around the garden.

And so it begins...with hoverflies.

Almost exactly a year ago I picked up my camera. In no time at all I found that I was most comfortable photographing wildlife. These were some of the first pictures I snapped whilst out in our SE London garden last spring and summer (2010). Being a cat, I had no concept of aperture or shutter speed. Therefore almost all of these pictures were taken using the 'point, click, and hope for the best' technique.
